Liz Tracy-Cal Poly Wheelchair Foundation is our guest speaker

No meeting on the 18th or the 25th, or the 1st of January-Rotary is dark.

December 18th is our B.O.D. meeting @ 5:00 followed by the potluck-Bring a drink to share. Sherry will e-mail with details.

Cookbook: concerned about the cost: deposit of 30% is required. Hilary will research other publishing companies. Handouts and Recipe Collection Forms have been distributed to all students at Cayucos School and now we wait for the submission to start pouring in.

4-Way Test update: The winners are: 1st=Kylie Hilliard, 2nd=Devin Streeter, 3rd, =Kai Schwennicke, and the third place runner's up are: Berkeley VanDuzen and Kassie McClory. We need to schedule a meeting to invite them to breakfast and hand out their rewards.

Liz Gray: attended international meeting, voted to do a water project and putting in our matching grants. Spend that money Liz!

Anniversary is confirmed! Saturday, March 21st, great band, dinner and dance is confirmed. Wear your dancing shoes!

National immunization day organizing a trip to India. February 1st and 2nd. If interested, Sherry has details and forms.

We need your help during the holiday season to send packages to the troops. They need hygiene projects and other necessities. Care packages to the men and women in Iraq. If you would like to donate an item or for more details, contact President Sherry.

This Sunday, December 7th at 5:00, the town of Cayucos will host the annual tree lighting. Santa is arriving in a fire truck. Hey, I think I recognize Santa Clause. Of course Santa would be a Rotarian!

Morro Bay New Year Party at the Morro Bay community center 7:30-1:00 a.m. Chamber of Commerce hosts function.

Guest Speaker: Liz Tracy-Cal Poly Wheelchair Foundation

Raised over 350,000 dollars for project.

Devoted to giving the gift of mobility.

The year 2000 it was established, raised 625,000 wheelchairs around the world. Enables people to claim their independence to go to school, work, etc.

Less than 1% have access to a wheelchair. Foundation work in conjunction with Cal Poly Senior project.

This year devoting effort in Mexico, send out 260 wheelchairs to devote to Mexico.

How Rotary can help:

In January, there is an art show at the PAC- all the pictures are for sale.

April 17th a live and silent auction. They always need auction items.

Corporate sponsorship available.

Question and Answer Period: What are some high and low end items to donate to the auction?

Example of low and high end items: two lift tickets, dinner at a restaurant, like a package deal that includes several activities.

Low end: case of wine, rounds of golf, beach package, spa day, Formal sit down dinner. Event will take place at the Cliffs resort- $100 dollars a ticket.

Are the wheelchairs fit for rough terrain?

Fit with all terrain tires, custom fit, comes with extra parts, all weather.

Each year there is a new team in charge of about 27 students. They meet once a week and their main goal is awareness. Getting involved with youth rotary: interact at other schools.

Their focus is both domestic and international.
