Thank you to Sue, Brad and our Guest Speaker Andy Loveless member of Cambria Rotary.

Oxnard Seminar: How to retain membership and make it grow.

In 2 months share with members ideas decided to implement and in 4 months share results and in 6 months provide feedback.

Hilary to give update on cookbook: Committee meeting @ 5:30 Wed. evening @ Hilary's office. E-mail reminder to follow. Students will be involved and Donna requested to get a release from parents in order to take pictures. Have students take home a form to bring home to their families, little stories included with why recipe is important, artwork, (Eric S. involved) Literacy project.

DG Anil Garg's Visit, Aug 19 @ Cambria Centennial Sunrise & Morro Bay Clubs & again, Oct 2 to our Club.

Next week District Gov. coming. Social organized. Reception Monday August 18^th from 6-8 p.m. Mustache Pete's 10.00/person

The next morning is the Cambria Sunrise Meeting.

Emily introduced a brochure with information about a Crab Feed. Instructions about how to put it on and the cost involved.

Raised 21,000 for a fellow Lion's family. Great job!

Guest Speaker: Andy Loveless

ICARE international is a Grass roots organization, started by optometrists from Illinois. ICARE international-goal is take what you do for a living and change lives-4 day trips, 2,000 people's lives are changed.

ICARE formed in 1989 by Illinois optometrists. Mission is to provide eye care services, 62 total missions.

Andy went to Guatemala, area surrounded by volcanoes.

Trip in May of this past year, set up clinic and the next day off and running. All day people waiting to get served. The kindest people and thrilled that they are getting help.

Hours were from 9-5 seeing people, check them in, Acuity Test, Auto Refractor (Automatically measures the prescription) then optometrist evaluation.

Interpreters available, 1/3 - ¼ don't need anything, but the rest can't see.

10,000 plus donated prescription glasses. Local students volunteer, tons of local support from community.

Programs for the Mayan families include training to build quality homes, provide classes like sewing, fishing, all locally made which support the community, water filtration systems, bedding, stoves, amenities to improve their lives but supports the local economy and community.

This weekend will be the 3^rd annual fundraiser at the Avila Bay Athletic Club and Spa.
