Celebrating first birthday: illustration of set-up, band and decorations under control, Brad checked on chairs, potties, need to sell 65 tickets to break even, anything above that, will be profit. Band and venue and food is secure. Capacity is 200. Saturday, March 21st, 6-10 p.m. Dinner and Dance. Invitations to follow. Held at the historic Boradori Garage on North Ocean Avenue.
Will be billing annual dues soon. E-mail the invoice 6 months in advance.
The next board of Directors meeting will be Tuesday, February 10th, 2009.

2009-2010 The Future of Rotary is in Your Hands. New Theme for Rotary. This month is world understanding month.
Bill and Melinda Gates contributed another large sum of money. As of today, R.I. has raised 73 million dollars. Our district gave almost 411,605 dollars.

2001 came up with idea after lost leg in car wreck
Founded AmSurf in 2003 along with the first clinic- 7 people at the first clinic, great response from the community
2006 emphasis was placed on people injured in Iraq, burn victims, and brought them out for a week to golf, surf, kayak,
2008 went global, now travel all along the coast of California
Disabled veterans are biggest clients
Inspiring especially when kids as young as 3 who take to it and enjoy it
2 main contests send athletes to support and promote, gain exposure
Want to inspire people to find themselves and realize that just because they may have a lost limb, it doesn't mean you can't get out there and participate in sports
Community needs to be educated: it's not the end of the world, there are many physical things they can still do-just put your mind to it. Just being out there in the ocean is therapeutic-you just come alive when you are out there with the waves crashing.
Go to hospitals to talk with people and let them know what they are and do.
Clinics this year in Ventura, Pismo, Santa Cruz, San Diego, Shriners event in July.
Have to have volunteers. Need one on one- 2-4 volunteers per individual to make sure learning and safety are utmost important.
Rotary can help with surf clinics
Marine Corps come out for support
62 veterans at the clinic in San Diego come out and have fun and to try something new. It's never too late! Individuals in their 70's and 80's
