Club Secretary Gladys Bird had been nominated as “Rotarian of the Year” 2012-2013 for the Cayucos Rotary. Bird served two years as Club Secretary and was recognized for her dedication and commitment to the club. In addition to Rotary, Bird is active in C.A.S.A., Literacy Council of San Luis Obispo, and local communities. Originally from Michigan, Bird retired as a mortgage banking Vice President after 21 years. She is married to Ron Bird, a retired attorney and both live in Morro Bay. When Gladys is not volunteering, she spends her time walking on the beach, gardening and reading.

Richard Moore, who was previous year’s “Rotarian of the Year” in Cayucos Rotary, and incoming club president for 2013-2014, had been honored as the “Man of the Year” by Rotary International’s 2011-2012 President Kaylan Banerjee, for having made deep contributions in five areas of services, namely (a) club service: facilitation of fellowship & growing membership; (b) community service: initiation & participation in local projects; (c) international service: working on project to facilitate health care to rural villagers in Tanzania; (d) new generations service: involvement in local school’s peer mediation program, and (e) vocational service: establishment of vocational scholarships for high school students.  A proud father of four children and five grandchildren, including Sebastian, aged 8, a Paul Harris Fellow, Dick is a retired financial planner, after having served many years in the telephone, security systems and securities industries.
