Thank you all for your continued support of one of the finest Rotary Clubs in the World.

To all the Rotarians of Santa Clara, their families and friends of our club:

Thank you all for your continued support of one of the finest Rotary Clubs in the World.  Together we have accomplished a lot as a club this past year; hosting a youth soccer tournament for nearly 90 teams and over 2,000 families and participants is certainly one of the highlights of the past year.  And the result of this fundraising event helped put over 500 pairs of shoes on children in Santa Clara (Steps for Success).   Through the support of our members, friends and advertisers, we have also provided 150 challenged children with a joyous Christmas.  These young members of Santa Clara community may not have normally had such a wonderful Christmas experience had you all not been there to provide them with new winter jackets and toys from Santa.  Surely this puts a smile on all of our faces.  We helped the students of our high schools get to Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) and assisted in college scholarships for four students of our fine city.  We contributed near $12,000 directly to the world fight against Polio.  We saw our club members entertain and feed nearly 140 senior citizens at the Santa Clara Senior Center.  We played an integral part in the international scene as our club contributed to put over $10,000 worth of medical equipment into a Romanian Hospital where artificial limbs may now be fabricated for children in the Timisoara area.

Our members worked hard and contributed much no doubt!  We also enjoyed each others company at our annual wine dinner, valentine's dinner and dance, our bocce ball tournament, our sailing day on the bay, past president's bbq, our evening dinners, the Chinese Chicken Salad sale event, day at the Earthquakes, our district events and the wrapping party and the day with Santa and the children.  Yes, we have had fun this past year too! Yes, we met exciting and interesting people from our community.  Yes, we saw joy in inviting wonderful new members to join our rotary family and help support our community.  And yes we experienced sorrow, but joyfully we remember the shared experiences of those friends that we lost this past year.

It is good to be a Rotarian and have friends from all walks of life.  It is good to have shared interests in giving back to the community and living by the statement, "service above self".   As we draw this year to a close, let us recall our past successes, put them into our pockets as confidence coins and face the new challenges of the year knowing we are rich in confidence as a successful club.  In the future, when we meet the challenges and are not sure of our direction, lets reach into our pockets reflect on the confidence coins and know that we are prepared to move forward to be successful again.  May you all have a blessed, peaceful and enriching holiday season and new year!
