Understanding Rotary Part 3
WEEKLY DOSE OF ROTARY INFORMATION
THE MAKE UP OF ROTARY INTERNATIONAL
This week's information is designed to help you understand the hierarchy and make up of RI. While these are not crucial to you being an active member of your club, it does show you the numbers and membership pyramid of Rotary International.
What is not shown on this form are the Rotary numbers specific to us in our club.
Our club was chartered on, August 10, 1936. Our club # is 508. Both of these can be found in your District Directory and Resource Guide next to our club listing. If you still have not received a District Directory ask the club President, he/she should have a copy for you. Your Rotary member number is the 8 digit number over your name on your Rotarian magazine. If you have not yet received a copy of the Rotarian either at work or at home, ask the club secretary if they sent your information into RI yet.
Anytime you mail something to RI, you should include your club number and your membership number so that they can properly credit you. If you have these numbers at your disposal, you can also log into Member Access on the Rotary Website, Rotary.org, and view all that RI has on record for you. This website is well worth your time to learn about the larger organization Rotary International.
The District 5170 website is also a great place to wander around. Rotary5170.org will tell you about the other clubs in the district, and details of District events. Please take some time to learn about your District and other clubs in the District, it will serve you well.
This is a very easy week. If you learn this information, you will be equipped to navigate the website and gain access to much information.
Thanks for being a member of our club, and a good Rotarian.
