President's Message - Oct 22

Thanks to our Speaker Dana Fraticelli "Boys & Girls Club of Silicon Valley".   Dana provided us with a well received summary of the many wonderful attributes of the Boys and Girls Club of Silicon Valley.  The club is a facility based program with highly trained staff members providing activities for youth, as well as, feeding, clothing and providing a safe environment; After school activities including sports and other entertaining events.  By providing youth a purposeful and interesting affair before wayward events occur we may really be saving a lot of ills on our community.  Thanks again to Dana for all that you and the club do!

Polio eradication day was October 24^th, 2009, and our fine City has recognized the importance of our club and our mission in Santa Clara; "End Polio Now Day".  Thank you to Vice Mayor Jamie Matthews for personally providing the City of Santa Clara proclamation by the City Council and Mayor Patricia Mahan, designating the date and the significance of our clubs contributions to this mission.  We hope that this proclamation, as well as, the work and contributions by Rotary will provide more incentive to the world's effort to end the scourge of this terrible disease.  Thanks to Andy Ratermann for heading this up.

Our club is a special place to network, meet with friends and learn about our community and the world, we thank those Rotarians that have thought it fit to bring friends to our club, thanks especially to Miles, Larry, Shawn, Ken, Steve Van Dorn,  and others who have recently shared us with their friends. 

Thanks again to our guests this week, Tony, Dave, Dana and Vice Mayor Jamie Matthews.  We appreciate your company.

And this week we look forward to next hearing the personal profiles of three of our current red badgers and will be giving a quarterly summary of the status of our club.  Our theme for this date will be a Halloween one, of course, so to almost assure you of being "fine" free, wear a costume!!  Also, get it on your calendar November 12, this is our annual evening meeting.  Please invite your significant others and or people that you would like to see join our club.
