Weekly Club News Update!

Don’t you wish you had a rotating stick or even and rotating stick with a light on it when you are roasting Marshmallows? Well Jim Rogers, CEO of Kampgrounds of America (KOA), has both available at the KOA locations. Jim was last week’s speaker and demonstrated both devices along with giving us a firsthand account of his experience appearing on an episode of the TV show "Undercover Boss". He showed clips from the broadcast and spoke about the preparation that took place in developing the episode and filming at the various locations he visited for the show. Jim sprinkled a lot of humor in his presentation but also talked about how in his business, like Rotary, is based on"Service Above Self". Our Program Director, Andy Ratermann, hit another one out of the park with his speaker selection.

The induction of three new members took place last week and it was quite an induction. I don’t know if three new members have even been inducted at the same time in the Club but it seem to confuse the President as he couldn’t keep the names straight. Jerry Marsalli, Fred Ahlstrom, and Lou Mariani are our newest members. Make sure you take the time to introduce yourself when you get a chance.

This week’s speaker is Dr. Melina Uncapher, CEO and cofounder of the Institute for Applied Neuroscience which is a science-for-good non-profit organization. She partners with educators throughout California to design, implement and assess education innovations that are grounded in the science of learning. Yet another interesting speaker and topic for our meeting.
