Weekly Club News Update!

I am sure all of you missed last week’s meeting, or you should have since there was no meeting. We were dark for the Enterprise Leadership Conference that took place starting Wednesday 3/11 and ending on Friday 3/13/15. This was the 2

nd ELC South Bay conference and it went extremely well. Our partners, the Rotary Clubs of Mt View and Milpitas, helped guide 60 high school juniors thru three days of instruction resulting in ten new products defined and ten new companies formed. The three Co Chairs, Colleen Noll, Miles Barber, and Phil Dolan, put together a fabulous venue of speakers, kept the program moving, and made it fun for the students. Several Club members participated as RTAs, speakers and/or judges which added to the success of the program. ECL Silicon Valley West consisting of the Rotary Clubs of Saratoga, Sunnyvale, Campbell, Los Altos & Cupertino held their program at the same time resulting in 120 High School Juniors at the Asilomar Conference Center. Quite a growth story considering six years ago we started with 48 students and four clubs and have expanded to 120 students and eight clubs in 2015.

Prior to our last week we had Jeff Rosen, District Attorney for Santa Clara County, as the speaker. He talked about how his office is trying to build bridges between the various communities in the County and what some of the major crime issues are for Santa Clara County. Surprisingly, Human Trafficking for the purposes of sexual exploitation is a real issue in the County

This week’s meeting will be about the recent Enterprise Leadership Conference. High School Representatives from Santa Clara High, Wilcox High, Mission Middle College, Wilson, New Valley, and St Lawrence are invited to the meeting along with students from those schools.
