Weekly Club News Update!

Last week we had the pleasure of having the President of Symphony Silicon Valley, Andrew Bales speak. Andrew gave a little history of Symphony Silicon Valley and how they have managed keep it viable from a financial standpoint as well as attracting and keeping local first class musicians. Symphony Silicon Valley was born from the ashes of the San Jose Symphony. They have flourished based on an innovative business model that is market driven, financially conservative and has the flexibility to match its programming to its support base. Their home is the restored California Theater in downtown San Jose. You can check out the upcoming performances at http://www.symphonysiliconvalley.org/.

Scott Ngai was inducted into the Club as our newest member. Scott is a Pediatric Dentist with a practice in Santa Clara. Mike Pearce is his sponsor. Stop by and say hello to Scott when you get a chance.

ELC has selected students and assigned them to teams. Each of the 10 Teams has two RTAs. The RTAs will be contacting the students this week to verify that they can attend the conference. Each student must attend, with a parent or guardian, one of two orientation sessions to be held at Mission College. A lot is going on with the ELC committee over the next month. Contact Phil Dolan or Colleen Noll to see where you may participate.

This week’s speaker is Keith Blackey. Keith is the founder of the Kabul Rotary Club in Afghanistan. Kabul is the largest city in Afghanistan. I am sure Keith has quite the story to tell. Don’t miss it
