At last week’s meeting we hosted our annual Speech Contest. Four students from Santa Clara and Wilcox high schools were given 5 minutes to speak about "Light up Rotary". All of the speeches were excellent. The students had done their homework and presented their topics with facts and passion. The contest was attended by parents, school teachers and the Principals from each of the high schools. Prize money was increased this year to $300 for first place, $200 for second, and $100 for third. The first place contestant will move on in the competition.

At the meeting, two more outstanding members were inducted into the Club. Harbir Bhatia and Suds Jain bring a lot of service experience to the club and we look forward to their participation and contributions. Be sure to take the opportunity to get to know our newest members.

Remember, this week is Christmas for Kids at Stevens Creek Lexus. A "Big Storm" is headed our way but as Sandy Allen said, "Rain or Snow it’s a go" for the event. If you didn’t attend the "Gift Wrapping" party on Wednesday evening you missed a fun event. Instead of the usual filling bags with toys, the bags were already filled and one present from each bag was gift wrapped by those who attended. Great idea that will no doubt stick.

Invitation are out for the Club’s Holiday Dinner on 18 Dec followed by an e-mail blast. If you haven’t contacted me and are planning on attending please respond by Dec. 12. The Hilton needs a meal count. The event will have a surprise or two. Don’t miss it.
