Weekly Club News Update!

District 5170’s Partners in Rotary program brought us Lindsay Ford and his wife Allison as last week’s speaker. Lindsay and his wife currently live in Norfolk Island, Australia where he is a member of the Island’s Rotary Club in District 9910. Lindsay spoke about Rotary International projects he has been involved in and the impact The Rotary Foundation (TRF) has had on education, health, clean water, and sanitation for people living in impoverished areas. His message was about the importance of donations to TRF, the difference those donations make, and the image they project about Rotary that the community needs to know about. The slides he showed of children with severe physical disorders and how, through TRF, surgeries were performed that put smiles on faces and pride for all Rotarians.

This week’s speaker is one we have had several times over the past few years. Dan Schnur of the Jesse Unruh Institute of Politics at the University of Southern California will give us a glimpse of the political scene in the State of California and Nationally. Dan is very knowledgeable about politics and is a superb speaker. This is defiantly a meeting to invite potential members to as they will not be disappointed. So please, invite someone you feel would be a great Santa Clara Rotarian to this week’s meeting.

See you all at this Thursday’s meeting.
