Dr. Bharat Pandya is a General and Laparoscopic Surgeon. He completed his graduation and post-graduation from prestigious Seth GS Medical College, KEM Hospital. At present he owns & runs Pandya Hospital, one of the few ISO 9001:2000 certified private hospitals in Mumbai. He is a member of various medical associations viz. Association of Surgeons of India, Association of Medical Consultants etc. He is a Founder Member of Association of Minimal Access Surgeons of India. He is a Fellow of International College of Surgeons and he has been conferred Fellowship by Association of Surgeons of India. He currently serves as Vice-Chair of Board of Management of Jan Shikshan Sansthan, a Central Government of India sponsored Vocational Training Institute.
He joined Rotary as Charter Member of Rotary Club of Borivli in 1989 and was President of the club in 1993-94. He was District Governor of District 3140 in 2006-07. He has addressed and conducted Intercity Meets, District Training Meets, PrePETS, PETS, District Assemblies & District Conferences. He has been conferred The 4 Avenues of Service Citation by Rotary International and has been conferred Citation of Meritorious Service by The Rotary Foundation. He is a Level II Major Donor and a Paul Harris Society Member and his entire family is Paul Harris Fellow.
During his year as Governor, he had many achievements to his credit –
1) More than 2300 youth were given Vocational Training and Functional Literacy;
2) More than 50 Check Dam projects and a total of 110 Rain Water Harvesting projects were carried out in D 3140 (Total Project cost for Water projects Rs. 15 million);
3) A tie-up was initiated with many organizations to carry out Joint Projects - for example (i) ISKON for Mid-Day Meal program benefitting over 10000 poor primary school children (iii) Save Girl Child Initiative with Population First.
4) Started the Paul Harris Society in D 3140 in 2006-07 with 33 Members.
5)The unique achievement was the Rotary Foundation contribution of over US $ 2 Million by D 3140 in 2006-07, thus for the first time making an Indian District - District 3140 the No. 1 District in the whole Rotary World in Rotary Foundation contributions.
• He has served as Regional Rotary International Membership Coordinator -RRIMC for 2008-2010 and as Strategic Advisor for The Rotary Foundation for Zone IV in 2008-09.
• He has served as Rotary International Training Leader for 2009. And he is serving as R I Training Leader for the 2nd time for 2010.
• He has served as GETS Training Team Member in 2008-09 & 2009-10 and as Trainer for DGN Training Seminar in 2007-08.
• He is serving as GETS Chair for Zones IV, V & VI A for GETS to be held in November 2010.
• At the District Level he was District Trainer for 2009-10 and also for 2010-11.
His wife Dr Madhavi is an Obstetrician & Gynecologist. She was Charter President of Inner Wheel Club of Borivli. They have 2 daughters Nidhi and Sashmi.
He firmly believes that "If my Mind can Conceive it, And my Heart can Believe it, I know I can Achieve it".
