Last week, Andy found another great speaker. Mr. Nan Su talked about the beginning of Covid-19 in China and their Moral Crisis. It was a very good presentation and the link recording of our meeting is below. I have also attached Bob Ricks recap. As I mentioned in the meeting, Bob has joined his local Rotary club in Texas. Bob promises that he will continue with our zoom recap and be involved with our club when he and Betty are in town. Bob has served our club in many different capacities over the years and his departure is a great loss to our club. Bob, Thank You!
I know everyone is tired of the Covid-19 restrictions and our zoom meetings. But on the bright side, Andy has been able to get some amazing speakers from all over the country. This week Kevin Surace will be talking about Artificial Intelligence and Covid. It should be another good presentation.
On Tuesday, October 20th, we will be meeting (5:30pm) in person at Jack Holders for our Happy Hour event. For those that can't make it, we will try to zoom this event. Joe and Linda Sweeney will be moving to Arizona on the 21st, so we want to say goodbye to both of them.

Greeting and Inspiration:
Andrea started off the meeting with a Ken Rowell worthy greeting and a great inspiration: KEEP A PROMISE. You should ask Andrea for a copy of this inspiration. Your humble scribe could not find it by Google.
The Pledge: Our president caught me unawares and asked me to lead the Pledge. I had to quickly grab my copy of the Boy Scout Handbook I stole at Andy Ratermann’s recognition banquet, thumb to page 12 and read to the group. Thankfully I pulled it off seamlessly. There were zero Kaepernick clones in the group.
Visiting Rotarians:
PPx2 Bill Carver was on our Zoom from Dripping Springs, Texas after attending his new Lake Travis/Lakeway Rotary Club earlier in the day. Bill has now lured your humble scribe into this same club to help him with his attempt to be a Rotary president again. I had to turn down Sweeney’s request to move to Arizona to assist in Joe’s Governor attempt there in order to remain in Texas and advise Bill. It is getting competitive out there folks. My main objective with Bill’s campaign is to keep his Berkeley roots under the radar. This will not fly in Texas.

Rotary anniversaries congratulations go to both John Elwood and Frank Walsh at both 10 years membership in TGRCITW. Congratulations!
We Care: Mr. Rotary, Larry Fargher, had cataract surgery this week. Lois will brief us on the outcome. Hopefully all went well.
Steps: The shoes are ordered and the process is building for October 31. Contact Dan Winter or PP Colleen Noll if you have decided to help out. Due to Covid this is a new set up for the club this year. We need all hands that can help to volunteer. Colleen is also handling the costume requirements for the event. Walt Marwitz has already co-opted The Lone Ranger but Tonto is available as is Silver the horse. Walt wants a team if possible.
Rebuild: PE Bill Kelly reports we are ready to go. You may want to wear your best painting shirt as the Santa Clara Weekly press will be onsite for interviews and photos. Plus, Home Depot will be onsite as PP Phil Auger’s sponsor and ladder mover. PP Joe Sweeney will provide signage. This thing is BIG!
Nominating Committee voting: Heath has received 25 votes to date. The time is running out. If you have not submitted your selections for the nominating committee please get it to Heath asap.
Happy Hour at Jack Holder’s: This is another in-person event at Jack Holder’s on October 20 at 5:30 pm to honor and say good-bye to PP Joe Sweeney and Linda as they move to Arizona. There will be a $20 pp charge for each attendee to offset the cost of food. The first member to ask Joe to cover their $20 may get a positive response. The second person may be out of luck. We hope to see you with a nice mask strapped on on October 20.
A personal note: Your Humble Scribe has resigned from TGRCITW and joined the Lake Travis/Lakeway Texas Rotary Club as of this date. If our club ever gets to meet in person again you can still expect to see me in the audience as Betty and I will be moving back and forth between Texas and California. As long as President Mike keeps us on Zoom I will continue to clean up his meeting notes by way of this bulletin.
We did vote in Texas this week. I was shocked to find they wanted to see my driver’s license for ID prior to my voting and then verified my signature. I told them I was going to report them to California. They said, “No problem”.
Our speaker: 
Mr. Su was introduced by Secretary of State Dan Holder. His talk was well received by all the Zoomers. Mr. Su explained how the virus started and why China was responsible for the pandemic. 
His presentation followed the outline above as he explained why it was the Chinese government and not the Chinese people that created this crisis as the Chinese people are a moral people and always have been while the Communist government has never been moral since 1949. 
Overall the Zoomers enjoyed Mr. Su’s thoughts on why the Chinese Communist government allowed this pandemic to proceed. It was very interesting to all. We even learned something about Confucianism.
Mr. Su said that the Chinese people have followed these three elements for thousands of years whereas the Communists have not.
