This week Santa Clara County Assessor Larry Stone spoke to our club.  He discussed the impact that COVID 19 has had on our economy.  It was a very interesting presentation.  I have attached his entire PowerPoint and Bob Ricks recap of our meeting.

On Tuesday at 5:30pm we will be meeting at Jack Holders for happy hour.  The cost will be $30 per person which will include beer/wine and a special dinner prepared by Dan.  Be sure to wear your mask when you arrive.  There will be some special guests and I look forward to seeing everyone there.

Rotary Club of Santa Clara
The Greatest Rotary Club in the World: Santa Clara, California
Zoom Notes: April 8, 2021
Mike Sellers, President and Zoom Controller
Bob Ricks, Humble Scribe on Zoom call from anywhere in the U.S.

Zoomers in attendance:  29 dedicated Santa Clara Rotarians. Only three had their screen blocked so they could watch the meeting in their pajamas. Only one Rotarian in pajamas failed to block their screen. This name will go unpublished. We know who you are.

The Pledge was led by Dan Winter, fresh off another successful Steps for Success program. President Mike allowed Bob Buchser the week off. There were no kneelings noticed by the Club Secret Zoom camera.

Sandy Allen handled the shout out and the Inspiration. Her theme was about being Thankful. The poem she used is one to clip and save:

Sandy had a great selection in this time of Covid. THANKS.

Many of the newer members do not know Tucker Lasecke. Those of us that do wish him a Happy Birthday. Tucker is one of our great members that got us to TGRCITW.

PP Colly Ann Noll (official Texas ID) is down in Texas celebrating her birthday. Plus, she needed real boots.  Hopefully she also found a good BBQ joint for a birthday dinner. They are difficult to locate in Austin.

Best wishes to Jim and Cheryl Landes for their 55th anniversary on April 10. And Thanks for their many contributions to the success of this club through the years. Their hosted Valentine’s Dinner in February 2020 was our last big function before the Covid Virus shut down the U.S.

All the best to Tom and Patti, both celebrating 5 years in TGRCITW. In addition, Patti is still celebrating the recent birth of grandchild #6.

Keep those thoughts and prayers active for PP Larry Fargher. Lois reports that he is home once again, but things are still tough going.

Special prayers go out to Tim Ford for the loss of his nephew, Matthew Redick, this week in Albuquerque. Matthew served his country for 13 years in difficult assignments. He will be sorely missed by Tim and his family.

LIVE!

Most of the above have been recapped on previous bulletins except the new addition of the Jack Holder’s LIVE Happy Hour on April 13. PP Dan Holder (current Club Secy of State) will provide the location and the wine. Attendees provide $30 pp for the complete meal and a chance to get together with fellow SC Rotarians again, live and in person. Rumor has it that Nick Livak will make a surprise visit.

Jack Holder’s Restaurant is located at 3153 Meridian in San Jose. UBER is available for those of you that forgot how to drive during your Covid quarantine. Please: no pajamas.

Board Meeting on April 14:  All members are invited to log in for the Board Meeting. President Mike explained that the board has many important topics to decide and member input is always appreciated.

BOO! Our guest speaker today is Ted Keech’s favorite public servant, Larry Stone. I would be remiss if I did not add the normal greeting of BOO! That Larry receives each time he speaks to any group:

Larry gave the club an excellent analysis on the state of the economy, his forecast for the future and what we can expect as the Covid crisis recedes. I highly recommend watching him on Club Runner if you missed him live. Two of his slides used in the presentation should peak your interest:

See you next week!
