We conducted our meeting again on Zoom today, with 24 participants online. As we continue to adapt to some challenges presented by COVID, we look to upate our protocols for in-person events. The President’s Dinner Cruise has been pushed to March 26, and promises to be a fantaastic event. A COVID safety survey will be sent to members later this week. We enjoyed a terrific presentation from our guest speaker, Randy Zechman on the subject of solar engery legislation and its impact on residential solar systems. Meeting Highlights
Pledge: This week, the Pledge was led Miles Barber. Thanks, Miles for helping kickoff the meeting.
Inspiration: This week, our inspiration was provided C.J. Grewal, who provided words of wisdom on the importance of focusing on doing one’s best each day, and then leave the day behind. Each day provides another opportunity for optimism, and to do your best work. C.J. advised to leave the past behind us and not to dwell on what has already happened. His message provides a good perspective on how to approach each day to improve our wellbeing. Thanks, C.J.
We Care: Thanks to our Rotarians who dropped by the Celebration of Life event for young Tim Ford last Sunday at the American Legion Hall. I continue to be amazed at the support each of you provide to our club members in time of need.
Ted Keech advised that he is recovering and looks to get back to in-person meetings soon. He appreciates the support offered by his fellow Rotarians.
Sandy Allen is recovering from her recent accident; however, she has a long way to go to get back to full recovery. Please send a note of support when you get a chance.
Anniversaries: Mike and Janelle Beck celebrated their anniversary yesterday, January 18. Happy Anniversary, you two!
Rotary Anniversaries: One Rotarian was recognized today for celebrating one of the most important dates in one’s lifetime, that of joining the Rotary Club of Santa Clara. Congratulations, Larry Sacks for celebrating your 3rd year as a Santa Clara Rotarian.
Upcoming events:
Area Speech Contest – February 3, 2022, at the American Legion Hall
President’s Dinner Cruise, March 26, 2022. This event was moved from its original date on Valentine’s Day weekend.
President’s Report:
President-elect Tressa Williams advised that the annual President’s Dinner Cruise event has been rescheduled to Saturday March 26, 2022. This event will now occur during the evening before sunset, as the date is after we set our clocks ahead or Daylight’s Saving Time. Look for a spectacular sunset through the Golden Gate as we sail on a wonderful cruise to celebrate our 85 years of service to our community. Tressa will put out a flyer with additional information, including how to register for the event, sign up for the bus ride, and how to be a designated event sponsor. Join your fellow Rotarians for a very fun evening!
The Board of Directors will be sending out a COVID Safety survey on Friday of this week to obtain member feedback on our club safety protocols. The survey will take about 5 minutes to complete and will be anonymous. Should you like to provide additional comments, feel free to email President Bill Kelly, or any Board member by Monday January 24. Thank you for participating.
