Author Sam W. Haynes, professor of History and director of the Center of Greater Southwestern Studies at the University of Texas at Arlington gave us an interesting history lesson. Andy has arranged for those interested, you can purchase a signed copy of his book at a discounted price. The details are attached. BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING UPDATES:
- Welcomed guest, Manasvi Duggirala, Interact Area 11 Director – we will meet her in person along with the other youth that we support on Aug. 4th so please plan to attend that meeting.
- Approved the 2022/2023 budget, review our Clubs Bylaws, and our very busy 2022/2023 calendar along with our strategy to get it all done, with your help.
- Our future with the JW House depends on members signing up and thanks to our greeter for the day who didn’t let people in without signing up, all the spots are full. If you didn’t get a chance to sign up I’m sure you can assist those who did.
- Donation Request: Cystic Fibrosis previously approved
- Approved $10 fee for Attendance Exempt (AE) as they attend zoom meetings.
- Stella Kemp – resignation from the club was accepted

- Director Ana mom’s recovering from surgery
- Barbara - Phil gave an update that she’s doing better and we received a thank you for the flowers that she received from the club
- Keep the family of PP Dick Brooding in prayer, as now his wife too just passed away. - August 5th, we need your presence at the Annual Santa Clara Street Dance. The board approved sponsoring a booth that we will use as part of our membership drive. Wear your Rotary gear and plan to enjoy the evening of music, networking and inviting others to be a part of TGRCITW, the Rotary Club of Santa Clara!
- August 6th , District Membership Seminar – 8:30am – noon in Milpitas. It's free to attend – Here's the link to the website.
- August 15th , Cystic Fibrosis Golf Tournament – Here is another opportunity to show your SCR pride on the golf course. If you are interested in golfing contact Ted K. or Heath H. the form is attached.

Kurt serves as the president of Humane Society Silicon Valley, an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit animal shelter that has been supporting our community for over 90 years. He is thrilled to lead a talented and passionate team that is saving lives, keeping families together, and changing the game for pets and their people.
Prior to HSSV, Kurt spent 20 years in various operating and advisory roles helping organizations create sustainable growth. He received his MBA from Harvard Business School and his engineering degree from Rice University. Kurt is eternally grateful to have been rescued by his wife Charu and their dogs.
