Steve Stavis is the Superintendent for the Santa Clara Unified School District. The Santa Clara Unified serves four cities, nearly 16,000 K-12 students, and 18,000 adult education students. The district operates 26 schools.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Steve attributes much of his success and mantra that, "Life is good!" to marrying the right person. His wife is a resource specialist in the Union School District, and he has five children. The eldest graduated from UC Irvine, earned a law degree, and currently has her own practice. Steve's second daughter does human resources for DreamWorks. Son number one resides at Lake Tahoe, graduated from UC Davis and is purchasing a real estate appraisal business. His second son completed his degree in construction management at Cal Poly and is currently working in the field as a construction manager, His youngest daughter and child is a senior at UC Santa Cruz, and is in the UCDC intern program in our nation's capital. Three grandsons and a granddaughter round out the next generation. The Stavis family enjoys skiing, and in 1997 Steve and one of his daughters and one son completed the San Francisco Marathon, simultaneously crossing the finish line in Kezar Stadium. As a family the Stavis' have completed the Bay to Breakers, the Mercury News 10K, and the Wharf to Wharf numerous times. Aside from the Marathon, Steve says that his toughest race was the Dipsea, running up Mt. Tamalpias from Mill Valley and down to Stinson Beach. Developing positive relationships with the employees and families of the Santa Clara educational community have been extremely rewarding for Steve, and he genuinely feels that it's an honor to have been appointed as the District's superintendent.
