Fellow Rotarians,
This week we are very fortunate to have as our speaker Dr. Amir Dan Rubin, President & CEO, Stanford Hospital & Clinics. Dr. Rubin is a highly respected and accomplished hospital executive and you will want to be there to hear him speak. Thank you to Andy Ratermann for bringing us such wonderful speakers every week!
I will not be in attendance at our meeting this week, as my daughter Claire is having surgery on Wednesday. Rest assured that you are in good hands with president-elect Steve Rainbolt at the helm. Please be there to show him your support.
Bocce night last week was a wonderful success. The competition was fierce, but we all had a great time. Thank you to John Bertolotti for his work in organizing this fun evening event for our club.
We are still in the midst of our polio drive. Rotary’s work to eradicate polio is a tremendous gift to the world and one that will endure forever. As Rotarians it will be our greatest victory so far when we finally declare the world to be polio free. The estimated date for eradication is 2018, but it takes money to get there and the road will not be easy. The great news is that your donations will be matched 2 to 1 by the Gates Foundation’s, so your dollars will go ever farther toward getting us to our goal. Remember to get your checks in by May 15th, so you will be entered into our drawing for a new iPad Mini. Checks should be made payable to The Rotary Foundation, and you get one entry for the drawing for every $100 you donate.
