Sandy Allen is owner of family run Royal Coach Tours.  Sandy has been gracious to our club in providing transportation to and from school for our Christmas for Kids project for many years.  She is also a member of our board and involved with ELC.  Sandy gave a warm welcome to all in attendance.  Birthday Boy, Bob Buchser led us in the pledge.
Sandy inspired us with words on taking time to think, pray, love, be friendly, laugh, give, work and volunteer.  Thank you for sharing.

We heard from Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar, Kevin Adler. Of the incredible things The Rotary Foundation does, not the least is the Ambassadorial Scholarship Program.  Over $16 million went to this program in 2009-2010.  Thank you Kevin for sharing with our club about winning.

Bill reported on Lexus of Stevens Creek and Santa Clara Rotary are teaming up and will have an E-Waste collection fundraiser on November 05.  ALL ROTARIANS are encouraged to drop off computers, laptops, printers, copiers, fax, keyboards, mouse, monitors, boards, memory, cables, any size TV, cameras, Christmas lights, copper wire, extension cords, iPods etc. We need everyone’s help in getting the word out!

Andy is looking for help in the area of being a club photographer.  We need a volunteer to help out with pictures at our meetings and getting them over to Jan, so we will have them for our website!

Tressa had a birthday on October 07, but forgot what she did, so a $20 donation was made in her name to the Scotch Tasting Event.  Thank you, Tressa.

Bob Buchser celebrated his birthday with the club on the 20th and we all joined in to sing Bob a Happy Birthday!

Andy Cummings celebrates 73 years with his bride, Lourene on the 16th.  Kelly celebrated her first anniversary with Will on the 16th as well!

President Dan celebrated 17 years with Santa Clara Rotary on the 20th.

Joe, won the draw, but again was a loser and the pot will soon grow to $500.

George introduced our guest speaker, San Jose State football coach, Mike MacIntyre.  I’m sure all in attendance would agree that Coach MacIntyre is so much more than just a coach.  He inspired us with his 4 F’s Philosophy with his kids; Foundation, Family, Future and Football.  Just as in the game of football, and school and life he preaches, “We are always getting better or always getting worse.”  Great talk coach MacIntyre.  By the way, the answer is yes, I did pass English!

This week we will hear from Ursula Smith who is the author of, “Picking Tomatoes when the Sky was in Flames.”  This is a book about the struggle of civilians in Germany during WWII and the years that followed.

Important upcoming dates:

November 05, E-Waste Program at Lexus.  Benefiting Christmas for Kids.
November 05, Mission City Community Fund Dinner.
November 19, Tailgate at San Jose State prior to watching Navy.
