A Look Back at November 3rd, 2011
In Jan Eric Nordmo’s busy schedule he is a Men’s Professional Soccer coach, a College Soccer coach, an Entrepreneurial Business man, Chair of our Scotch Tasting Event, our Area 5 Assistant Governor, our Club Webmaster and Jan is also studying for his Master’s Degree. What the president didn’t know was that Jan is talented in creating Cheerleaders in our club. Next time, Pom Poms may be required when Jan is the official greeter! Jan inspired us with very appropriate words on coaching and motivation. Thank you Jan.
On a sad note we lost Norma Ferguson (wife of Manny) on October 28. Our hearts and prayers go out to Manny and his family at this sad time.
Kenny Rowell belted out some musical notes at Bells Are Ringing on the 21st. Surprising no one, Kenny was fun and entertaining for all in the audience. Great job Kenny.
Jan and Colleen were recognized for their efforts involving the Scotch Tasting Event on October 22. Jan was an entertaining and gracious for the nearly 60 who attended. The crowd was treated to some fabulous Scotch, an open bar, and tasty appetizers and a fun and educational discussion from Jan. Colleen did a wonderful job in obtaining raffle prizes for the evening, which added a lot of class to the event. Thank you Colleen and Jan in providing a wonderful evening and helping raise $2,400 for RYLA and Shelterbox.
Dr. Michael Pierce made an announcement regarding the Nominating Committee. This week Michael will announce to the club what five members will join our Past, Current and President Elect to choose next years 2 incoming Directors and our President for 2013-2014.
Miles Barber was recognized for achieving a rare athletic feat. On October 25, Miles was golfing with a good friend at the Royal Kaanapali in Maui. Miles approached the 15th, Par 3, 170 yd. and slightly overshot the hole, but with a little backspin on the downhill, he managed a hole-in-one!!! Miles was generous enough to contribute $200 to our Club Foundation in the name of ELC. Thank you Miles and congratulations!
Business is going well for Lorenzo where his Data Centers are ranked in the top 5 Nationally. A modest 10,000 sq. ft. home was purchased at Ruby Hills that would adequately house the entire Rotary Club from Santa Clara, well almost. Congratulations Lorenzo and thank you for the C-note.
