The Membership Committee, thanks to Chuck Wolfe, has assembled a list of the various organizations that are represented by you, the members. Please keep a copy of this and use it as a “Proof Source” to show a prospective membership candidate what business entities, governmental units, and not-for-profit agencies are involved with the Club. Also, please pick up a copy or two of the Membership leaflet crafted by Justin Clupper and his Committee that you can use as your “Elevator Speech” when discussing RCFW and Rotary International. We have a handful of these on the registration desk as you walk into the meetings, refreshed every week.

There you go. You now have your Elevator Speech and your Proof Source material. Now, let's talk to friends who would make great Rotary Club of Fort Wayne members.

Polio 5k Run/Walk

Fort Wayne Area Rotary Clubs are hosting the 13th Annual 5K Run/Walk at 8:00 am on Saturday, August 19, 2023. Grab your shoes, your friends, kids, and grandkids for the Kids’ Mile Fun Run at 8am and the 5K Run/Walk beginning at 8:30am. The event starts and finishes at the boat ramp in beautiful Shoaff Park in Fort Wayne. The proceeds from this family-friendly event will go to Rotary International and its Polio Plus fund to distribute oral vaccines to the two countries where there are still cases of polio, Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Registration is $35, with Fort Wayne Running Club members receiving a discount, and the Kids’ Fun is $5(race day only for 14 & under). Race applications are in the brochure that is available at the Monday noon meetings of the Downtown Club, at both Fort Wayne Fleet Feet locations, Three Rivers Running Company, or register online at getmeregistered.com/polio. This race is part of the points series for the Fort Wayne Running Club. Packet pick-up is on August 18, from 4-6 pm at Fleet Feet Sports, 1549 W. Dupont Rd., Fort Wayne, or at the race. Free t-shirts are
guaranteed to the first 200 registrants.

After the race, there will be door prizes and awards. There are plaques for overall male and female winners and age group awards.

We are very close to ending polio worldwide and you can help by participating in this 5K. Tax-deductible donations may be made to Fort Wayne Rotary Foundation ℅ Fort Wayne Rotary, P.O. Washington Elementary Food Pantry/Back to School Night Project

Washington Elementary Food Pantry/Back to School Night Project The Local Service Committee has partnered with the Washington Elementary School Committee for the school's Back to School Night. As part of that event, we will be collecting shelf-stable food items for their food pantry. The pantry, constructed by the Washington EarlyAct students, is located outside of the school on Washington. This pantry serves their families as well as people in the community. Please see the attached list of sample items or refer to the list below of items we will be collecting. We will be collecting them at our meetings for the next 3 weeks and then taking them to the school on Wednesday, August 16.

Here is a list of suggested items:

Peanut butter
Jelly and Jam
Crackers
Bread
Pop-top Soups
Boxed meal items such as Hamburger Helper, macaroni and cheese, or complete microwave meals that are shelf-stable.
Pop tarts

Donations Needed to Meet Club Goal

With just a few weeks left to the Rotary Year, our Club is still short of our fundraising goal for The Annual Fund of the Rotary International Foundation. We need to reach $20,000 in giving by 6/30/23.

We currently stand at $17,670, when including member checks that have been sent in but not showing on the report yet. We have reached and exceeded our $20,000 goal for several years in a row. We have three more meetings this Rotary year. Please consider bringing a check to Foundation Committee Co-Chair Jeff Peat at Club, or mail it to hisy home address:
