Program Summary
Club Assembly

With much material to cover, President Merle navigated members through her inaugural Club Assembly. Adressing the past, present and future, she ably outlined Club goals with their corresponding International and District links. Echoing Rotary International President John Germ's theme "Rotary Serving Humanity", Merle set the bar high for membership at a net gain of 5 versus 2 from RI President John. She is also challenging us to surpass RI's Foundation giving goal from $26.50 to $100.00. In honor of The Rotary Foundation's Centennial Celebration, a public event is proposed to commemorate the milestone.
In line with District Governor Wulff's Peace Initiative, Merle has Mike Kelly coordinating a Club Peace Event, such as planting a peace rose and/or developing a children's activity. Our Strategic Plan is ongoing, and Past President Eloise Tweeten's leadership is reflected in our Core Values of Service, Fellowship and Support to members in need. Club By-Laws are in review and our 30th Anniversary Year celebration will be going on throughout this year.
Locally, Sunrise Rotary is organizing a District Grant to build a barn for Elsie Allen High School's Ag Student's goat barn. Our support for their bunny barn was prodigious. We are also exploring establishing an additional Interact Club at Roseland Prep High School.
Merle concluded the Assembly with a pithy spin from Milton Berle: "If opportunity doesn't knock, build a door."
