Meeting Highlights ~ Seen and Heard

 

Stalwart President Steve Amend, February Bulletin Sponsor,  recalls how his Roofing Services Inc business was launched with the support of several Sunrise Rotarians, including Engineer Leroy Carlenzoli, and Banker Shauna Lorenzen.  Steve's investment of time and goodwill continues to yield interest after selling the business but retaining its' property RSI Investments.

Margaret Van Vliet, recently appointed Sonoma County Community Development Director enjoyed her visit to Sunrise Rotary.

Arthur Chaney moves closer to his blue badge as he presents his Craft Talk.  Arthur recounted his early days in Law Enforcement when Santa Rosa was considered a distant land.  37 years later, he and his colleague officers still relish the fellowship of hugs shared on the force.  In retirement Arthur looks forward to playing golf on every continent and enjoying time with family.

Bryan Boyd, Entrepreneurial Egg Rancher delivered an enlightening history of his pathway to innovative poultry egg production. With a desire for humane treatment and sustainability, Bryan focuses on mobile modular cages which allow the brooding hens to forage the natural landscape, converting grubs to a new organic field for subsequent feeding.  He tends 1,000 hens on 15 acres with self-designed and built equipment, currently transported/relocated on site with a special tractor tread pickup truck which is able to avoid getting stuck in the frequently soggy soil.  Just recently, new to the United States egg vending machines allow Bryans' birds to bring their super nutritious shelled jewels to a fast growing flock of fans throughout Sonoma County.  Check out Wise Acre Farm ~ and Eggs http://www.wiseacreeggs.com  Free tours of the Arata Lane, Windsor Farm are available March through October.  Bryan's story is a genuine Sonoma County local boy does great!
