Tuesday, July 9, 2019 -Tokyo
Our team arrives safely in Tokyo and is welcomed by their Guide Yumi;
From Janis Couvreux, Chaperone;
First day was full with a visit to Ghibli museum. Had no idea what that was about, but Rob, Ari, and Yumi were amazing information sources.
The boys are all wonderful. Please let their parents know they can all be proud. They are all very enthusiastic, and sincerely interested in learning about and experiencing all they can here.

Yumi is the best guide ever: easy going and very fluent in English and our American idiosyncrasies. She's probably in her 30s-40s? Hard to know because she looks so young but  based on her timeline of visiting the States 20 years ago, followed by several years in Korea, job with an NGO, and now and interpreter in Kagoshima...she's lived a bit.

Been on the go nonstop. Leaving for Kyoto tomorrow. Yumi actually has a lot more photos of the boys than I do. We'll try and get some to you.
All is well. Boys are great. John and Logan have become adept at chopsticks!

Wednesday, July 17, 2019 -Kyoto
From Janis Couvreux, Chaperone;
Kyoto is great. Such a  nice change from Tokyo, which I actually found oppressive. Boys loved it of course. Sun was out yesterday, so unbearably hot. Leaving for Hiroshima today. Rob is a such a shopaholic though.
Will meet Toshihiro Nanaeda today.
Sorry for cryptic notes. Not easy from my phone and I'm not good on tiny keyboards!

From Toshihiro Nanaeda
SRKSEP have departed Hiroshima for Kagoshima center station. They and Janis thanked Hiroshima center Rotary club and people they met in Hiroshima for hospitalities. Unfortunately, it was a rain pattern, but the LED Janice was also very pleased to be touched by the people in Hiroshima. Students also asked questions in various places and was a serious student. Hiroshima Central Rotary Club has been saying hello to all of you at home. A high school student is an adult, isn't it Thank you very much for your support.

Saturday, July 27, 2019 -Kagoshima
From Janis Couvreux, Chaperone;
So much we’ve been doing.
They are really getting the most out of this experience. Host family stays are going quite well. Logan and John have become very adept with chopsticks. They are all genuinely interested and curious about Japan, learning tons.
They have had great encounters also with Mori-san's students and those at the IBS institute.

Please tell their parents that I continue to be impressed by all their genuine curiosity, and how articulate, eloquent, and interactive they are with our hosts. They all gave amazing speeches and often. So much to report to you all on Aug 8.

Hello! We're enjoying ourselves with SRKSEP'19 students and Janis. They're having a nice time, I'm sure.
Thank you very much for a nice book on Kanae Nagasawa with Ms. LeBaron. It's a wonderful and a nice material for me.

This Wednesday We had a very big Welcome Party of 70 people and yesterday they came to my university(I.U.K.).
They had an experience to play Japanese archery and try Japanese calligraphy. It was very hot but they
seemed to enjoy them. We had a nice lunch party and Prof, McMurray gave a nice speech to them. Our Presidental assistant(No.2 Professor) gave a speech to them at first. They also watched the nice Kanae Nagasawa Exhibition in my university.
Especially  our students had a good job in the Welcome Party and I.U.K Day. About 20 students acted. They are the Student Branch of FSRA. I'm proud of them.
Best wishes,
Takaharu Mori
