160 Eye and 45 Dental Patients served by 11 Sunrisers in Nicaragua
President Doug Shureen beams with pride as he welcomes Sunrise volunteers back from their trip to Nicaragua. Among the customary gifts brought back for the pres were a t-shirt featuring the crest of Nicaragua and chocolates from President Elect Rich Randolph.
In two weeks, on February 22, John Jones, Principle leader and coordinator of this multi-year project ,will present a full audio/visual report of the experience, including clinical observations as well as traveler's tales of harrowing conditions and jungle fun. Incidents that accompanied the extraction of 140 teeth from crying children and terrorized adults as well as risks encountered during the posting of alphabet eye charts are already part of Sunriser anecdotal history.
