Steve Zwick's Summary of the Umpteenth Annual Golf Event
The Club's 30th Annual Charity Golf Tournament was held last Thursday with 102 golfers teeing off in a shotgun start at 1:00 pm at Oakmont Golf Club. The ever popular Tequila Hole was hosted by Jennifer Adams, Carmen Fuentes, Nancy Aita, Dicksie Tamanaha, and Liz Colbert. Reportedly, they ran out of tequila towards the end. The delicious shrimp ceviche prepared by Carmen and the guacamole and chips may have been the likely cause.
Not to be outdone was John Jones, aided by former club member Paul Stathatos, at the Barbecue Hole. They prepared delicious grilled skirt steak with chimichurri along with grilled cheese bread. The hole location was sponsored in honor of Mike Kelly and Ross Andress.
Janet Moshin from Moshin Vineyards served two excellent wines, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, at hole 17 aided by Penny Millar.
Golfer Awards were passed out at the dinner by tournament chair Steve Zwick and were as follows:
Putting Contest: Daniel Riccobuono $75
Closest to the pin on hole 8:
Brittney Worthen 7 feet 5 inches $50
Frank Marqua 4 feet 10 inches $50
Longest Drive at hole 9:
Kim Agrella $50
Lucas Miller $50
The winning foursomes were:
Low handicap Foursome from Exchange Bank shot 58 and received a foursome certificate for golf at Santa Rosa Country Club
High Handicap Foursome led by Scott Bagala shot 61 and received a foursome certificate for golf at Kennedy Park in Napa
Women's Foursome low Score led by Lynn Davis shot 74 and received a foursome certificate for golf at Bennett Valley Golf Course
The tournament adjourned about 7 pm after a pleasant dinner accompanied by good wine. Many members of the club contributed to the success of the tournament.
Day of tournament volunteers were important, particularly Max Bridges, Peter and Mary Banks, Jim Moir, Merle Hayes, and Liz Colbert who all did double shifts.
