Escorting me into the Viking past is a 4,000 year old Danish huntress. She and her predecessors greeted me at the Moesgaard Museum in Aarhus, Denmark. Also home to the peat-mumified Bog Man, the museum interprets Danish history from the Viking 800 BC era through the Middle Ages. Trade's hybridizing role in culture, wealth, and soverign boundaries came alive in the deep recesses of the architectural jewel.

As if it were a Danish Velux skylight, the museum rises artistically from the sloping hillside.
