Kirk Anderson, Chief Operating Officer of CannaCraft and native Santa Rosa son has been guiding this growing medical marijuana business since leaving his career as a Wall Street Investment Banker. CannaCraft is the largest medical cannabis company in the United States. It operates a state-of-the-science testing lab, Sonoma Labworks to assure produce consistency, with detecting sensitivity down to one billionth of a molecule. The current, cumulative tax rate is 73.25%. This high rate allows a slim margin and pressures on production efficiency are great. Sonoma County's location near the Emerald Triangle of Mendocino, Humboldt and Trinity Counties positions it well at the hub for this industry.
Medical applications claimed for cannabis include anti-convulsants especially for children, anti-inflamitants and anti-nauseants. The estimated value of these markets has been forecast at $32 billion by 2025 and is currently $7.5 billion.
At a recent speaking engagement in the Active 55 community of Oakmont, Kirk had an audience of 172 residents very interested in the use of cannabis as an alternative to opioids for pain and use as an anti-inflamitant.
