SRKSEP 2017

Five young adults returned from Kagoshima, Kyoto, and Tokyo folllowig a life changing week-long hosted visit to the island nation.
Chaperoned by Santa Rosa Middle School teacher Debra Cullen, Nash, John, Tiffany, Kenny & Ian returned more mature, insightful and humorous.
When asked about what surprised them, each offered a personal glimpse of their travel:
Nash~ small portions, John~ kindness, Tiffany ~quiet cities and being the only female student, Kenny~strong family bonds., Ian~chased by a monkey in Rasiana & his host mother doing his laundry daily!
Students learned the difference between a temple and shrine, visited purification stations, were impressed with the absence of litter, trash cans and graffiti.
Japanese don't take out packaging waste from stores: They leave it in the store they bought it in!
The group left one day early in order to avoid a typhoon. The 5 students and Debra met Midori, SRKSEP's 31 year long Coordinator.
In 2018 Sunrise will host students from Kagoshima! Consider being a host family and returning the hospitality and making a lasting impression towards Goodwill and Better Understanding!
Thank you Shauna Lorenzen for organizing this life enhancing exchange program!
