President's Pen

Perhaps the column should be titled President's Bell!

Sixteen well clad Sunriser's beared the wintry freshness last Friday and rang bells at Safeway on Calistoga Road to garner Holiday Cheer for the less fortunate.  The lead off teams of president Rich with Carolyn Anderson at the east entrance and Max Bridges and Warren Smith at the west got the coins and bill dropping with some genuine ingenuity in improvising buckets for the donations. A late delivery of the catching kettles prompted Max to offer his hat as the receptacle ~ and it worked very well!  Carolyn had a small cooler in her car, even color coded red to hold the shekles.

Max  and Warren started to thaw and kept a steady rhythm for their two hour shift.  Many thanks to Scott Holder for organizing and recruiting this year's chorus:  Steve Zwick, Jim Moir, Harry Coffey and Paul O Rear, Mike Kelly, Shauna Lorenzen, Merle Hayes, Eloise Tweeten, Lizzie Colbert, Peter Banks, and Dicksie Tamanaha!!
