Parks Bring People Together
The photo above is of San Jose California's Rotary Play Park. An example of extensive community collaboration, it is part of San Jose Rotary's Centennial Project, inspired by club and community advocates to provide innovative lusive play opportunities.
Don't let the funding total frighten you! It didn't happen overnight.
Our District Grant to provide two special moulded high back swing seats is underway. Parks Planner, Scott Wilkinson, is coordinating on the city side the location of our project. In the weeks ahead Assistant Governor, Brian Reed, and Sunrise President, Jack Strange, are canvassing other Area Clubs for interest in successive projects. Inspired by San Jose Rotarian, Dan Pulcrano, who seeded our project with a $1,000 challenge, Sunrise has secured a $3600 District 5130 Grant.
With completion slated by May 31, 2023, we are eager to similarly inspire other Rotary, service clubs and advocacy groups to leverage resources and support in enhancing accessible, inclusive play areas.
