October 8, 2015 Meeting Highlights

Rotary Foundation Thanks

Six Sunrise members were honored for their contributions to The Rotary Foundation.  Sunrise’ R.I.  Foundation Chair Carolyn Anderson summarized the Foundation’s health, hunger and humanitarian community improving projects made possible through Paul Harris Sustaining Memberships.

Recognized were Scott Holder, Rich Randolph, Randy Seelye, Jon Stark, Peter Treleaven and Club President Eloise Tweeten.

Junior College Rotaract Yields BIG!!

Santa Rosa Junior College Rotaract members ponied up to the tune of $2,000 USD to benefit Vicki’s Garden at Steele Lane School.  The garden project provides fresh produce for students and community and teaches relevant concepts in math, science and teamwork.  The garden is named in honor of the school’s former Principal and Sunrise Rotarian Vicki Lockner.

Collaborative sweat equity opportunities exist ongoing within the garden:  Contact Sunrise Rotarian Max Childs for specifics.

The Bells Are Ringing

As most Sunrise Presidents know, their gavel or come-to-attention bell has a tendency to migrate AWOL.  Jon Stark while recently travelling in Switzerland saw just the style to likely eliminate Eloise’ risk of loss:  A necklace size cowbell!  Dare say any member who tries to abscond with the piece will be easily tailed and apprehended!  That’s the truth & fair to all concerned!

Member Milestones

Ralph Harry celebrated his 39th+ birthday at today’s meeting!  He was rewarded with the President’s pink flamingo cap and a rousing chorus of HBTY.  Ralph’s golf score and candles are nearly paired!

Past President Harry Coffey returned from Cuba no worse the wear.  His true love, though, the Chicago Cubs was his choice for a memento to President Eloise.

Olin Leasher scored a Hole in One on a recent round at Bennett Valley.  ‘T wasn’t even a roller:  Straight from Tee to Cup!  Way to go Olin!!
