Lewis Learning Center Landscape Update
Wait, there is more!!
Though taken the same day, Lewis Learning Center's groomed front yard stands in contrast to the backyard's in progress makeover.
Stalwarts Del Raby and school Principal Janelle commence expelling weeds from planting areas.
Volunteer Curtis who organized the front yard makeover several months ago prepares an area for a new tree installation. The plastic sheeting under the soil is incompatible to the health of a new tree. Curtis expertise again will help assure lasting improvements.
Special Education Early Childhood Learning Teacher, Lacy, added her weeding passion to the project. Her classroom in the background is part of the campus serving children up to Fifth grade. Raised planter beds are in the drawing board stage. The buckets transported weeds to nearby dumpsters, giving bending, kneeling weeders a chance to regain normal posture!
The empty bucket is temporary: A close look at the background weeds and dead palm fronds stuck in the structure awaiting expulsion soon merge.
The crew of 7 made quick work in 2 hours, filling a 2.5 yard dumpster.
The smiles say we're glad to be done! For now. Behind the camera, Sunriser Peter Hoberg was no less happy with the results. His Environmental Care coordination is a large part of Sunrise recognition for District 5130 leadership in community engagement.
Stay tuned for the next installment at Lewis Learning Center.
