Equal Justice

Dear Santa Rosa Sunrise Rotary Members & Friends,

We are shaken by the recent killings of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor, and the earlier takings of the lives of Trayvon Martin, Michael Brown, Eric Garner, and others at the hands of police and vigilantes. At Rotary, we denounce racism. We celebrate diversity and demand ethical leadership. 

Our Santa Rosa Sunrise Rotary Club has a long history of providing volunteer time and community grants to non-profit organizations in Santa Rosa and surrounding areas … to serve low-income youth, the homeless, women & children in recovery, the elderly … for ALL in need.  We come together as Rotarians to provide food, maintain homes, provide scholarships to local high school youth, and more.  We also fund international grants to people of all races and nationalities to eradicate polio, and we are proud to be bringing medical services to subsistence-level communities in Nicaragua.  We are committed to bringing people together to do good in our community and the world. 

We have evolved over our 35-year Club history, and we know we have more work to do to help create a more just, open, diverse and welcoming Santa Rosa.  Our Club is educating itself now.  And WE ARE COMMITTED TO TAKE ACTION, working with others -- individuals and organizations -- towards solutions to dismantle racism wherever it exists.  Discrimination in any form is unacceptable.    

We invite and include all people in our efforts to deliver “Service Above Self”.  We live by the Rotary 4-Way test in our personal, professional, and Rotary service lives and will apply this to influence the necessary changes that will bring justice to all.
