Interact and Sunrise send spuds from Redwood Empire Food Bank to county's hungry.
Saturday last six Elsie Allen Interactors, Sunrise Advisor Willie Billeter, faculty Advisor Doug Gibson, Sunrise Mentor Merle Hayes and Willie's daughter Amelia measured and packed enough potatoes to serve 9,000 meals.
Some super spuds topped the scale up to nearly a pounds each. An engineer by day, Willie took the task seriously, concentrating on accuracy and efficiency. Amelia, the crew's youngest became an expert at Id'ing the "seconds" which were diverted to the pail for pig farm meals.
