Sunrisers go to the dogs
Eleven Sunrisers and friends including (right to left above) Warren Smith, Peter and Mary Banks, Service Chair Jennifer Adams, Lizzy Colbert, Del Raby, Stacey Drucker Anderess, Paul O'rear and Dicksie Tamanaha, as well as two of Jennifer's young wine industry colleagues, spent a fascinating afternoon at the Humane Society on Thursday, October 10, creating toys and baking treats for our furry friends.
Tying strips of cloth to frames with holes creates a fun "find the food" puzzle for dogs when treats are hidden in the "fabric" grasses. And the tying process offers creative opportunities for "weaving" art forms that include a variety of colors and textures.
Meanwhile, in the kitchen, tasty treats were being mixed and baked. Although they looked and smelled delicious, Sunrisers did not do a taste test. At least no one confessed to doing so...
And would you believe that the cardboard containers above are actually "destruction derby" toys for dogs to tear apart in search of the treats hidden within. Apparently these activities provide dogs with challenges and opportunities to play that result in happy active animals, like the lucky little doggie being cuddled by Jennifer below.
