Devil Pup and Devil Dog Present Program

Clint St. Martin, Northern California's United States Marine Corp Youth Devil Pups Program Liaison Representative for Sonoma County and Northern Marin illustrates the growth in confidence and character participants gain during their weeklong summer experience. St. Martin, a Marine veteran, coaches applicants in preparation for camp, conducted aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Pendelton near San Diego.
NOT a boot camp of reform for troubled youth. Devil Pups is designed for boys and girls between 14 and 17 years who desire to explore their full potential. They learn leadership, discipline, physical stamina, and teamwork, leading to significant self confidence and mutual respect.
This logo was specially designed and copyrighted by Walt Disney for Devil Pups. Originating in 1953 in Southern California, Devil Pups was inspired following two Marines observing youths burning an American Flag. Troubled by the lack of respect implied in the demonstration, the two brainstormed a means to generate patriotism and responsible behavior. Utilizing the name Devil Dogs given American Marines in World War I by German troops describing the fighting ferocity of the Marine Infantrymen, the dogs became pups, and the youth program was born.

Paxton Gude, from Sebastopol, a Devil Pup and exceptional Analy High School Interact Club Member, describes his preparation for the summer camp, including weekly, fast paced long distance runs with Clint and other participants. The summer camp offers first year enrollees conditioning and exposure to the Corp's core values. If one wishes to , and is selected, successive years may be attended as members on the actual camp staff.
Costs for the weeklong training is $700, of which $100 is for transportation to and from Oceanside. Campers earn their tuition, and may be supplemented through scholarships.
