PULLING TRAILERS AND TEETH

Sunrise Rotary selected the unmet dental needs of children in northern rural Mexico as the Club's focus for Rotary International's Centennial Year Celebration of Service Above Self.

Above, Sunrise Rotarians Rich Randolph (L) and Ezbon Jen, the Club's Santa Rosa Junior College Interact Advisor and College Professor pose with the college's dental supply trailer.

Ezbon spent a week in Mexico with student volunteers providing much needed oral healthcare to over 300 children.  While the students enjoyed a two hour flight back to their San Francisco Bay Area home, Rotarian Ezbon had the trailer pulling duty, which is no small task, as fellow Sunriser Randolph can attest.  While not part of this project, coincidentally traveling Randolph spotted Ezbon driving north on US 101 in Ventura County, as Ezbon cruised precisely along at 55 MPH, the legal towing speed.  Passenger Mrs. Randolph waved a hi-five to Ezbon who then pulled off onto a safe wide shoulder.  The three - (four with the trailer) exchanged greetings and updates on the project.  "I always behave myself on the road"  Professor-Trucker Ezbon confided, "you never know who or what you will meet on the way."

It is a small world, and The Centennial Dental Project is helping it be a healthier one as well.  Ezbon will be providing more comprehensive summary of his experience at an upcoming Sunrise meeting.  In the meantime, brush AND floss!
