Paul's Presidential Year Passes
While recovering from the devastation of wild fires that obliterated the homes of several Sunrisers, a world-wide pandemic upended all of our lives and put an end to our breakfast meetings at Franchetti's. The Internet meeting technology of ZOOM brought us together in little on-screen boxes throughout the entire year. We met with our new president Paul O'Rear from our bedrooms, kitchens, hallways and home offices, peering at each other in rows and columns of rectangular frames.
Peter Hoberg, our Zoom tech wizard, made this magic work while also supporting Del Raby in orchestrating meeting responsibilities.
While the Zoom format physically separated everyone, it also made distance irrelevant. Speakers in other time zones -- Tom Larenson and Dan Pulcrano (Bohemian) -- were welcomed into our meetings via a simple computer link. And Sunrisers on vacation or out of state -- Michael Riel, Scott Holder and Vicki Lockner -- were as close as the next rectangle on the Zoom screen.
