Evolution of Sonoma County Agriculture

George Dutton

With an emphasis on the 1950’s forward-hops, prunes, and grapes, George will discuss Santa Rosa in the 50’s, including his family's agricultural history, and end with some current thoughts on farming.

George is a fourth generation Santa Rosa native, raised on Dutton Ave, and graduated from Montgomery High School. He worked for Exchange Bank after graduation from UC Berkeley (finance) and returned to the bank after serving in the US Army, stationed in Germany. He left the bank after 20 years and went into private business (real estate development and construction), primarily in SW Santa Rosa. For the last 20 years of his career, he transitioned into commercial real estate appraisal, consultation and property management.
