Poet Laureate for Sonoma County 2018/20

Maya will read a few poems and talk about established fire scientists who have informed her work, her films and her writing. Briefly, she will talk about her journey as Sonoma Poet Laureate. She will also discuss why fire scientists who have informed her art have brought her to the understanding that we can have our homes and our beloved forests – without tearing them down. And, she will also talk about how she continues to be inspired by the natural world.
