Chess For Kids - Lead Instructor

Marc Hayman is the Lead Instructor for Chess For Kids.  Marc graduated from New York City University with a degree in Recreation and Park Management and has always been interested in history and people.

In 1974 he joined the National Park Service and was fortunate enough to advance in his career from Park Ranger to a member of management teams.  During his 36 years with the Park Service he focused primarily on education in one manner or another, playing a key role in a management training at Grand Canyon National Park, developing programs at Gateway National Recreation Area, a cluster of historic sites in NYC called Manhattan Sites, as well as serving at Padre Island National Seashore in Texas, Golden Gate National Park and finally San Francisco Maritime Historical Park.

Marc retired from the Federal service in 2010, shortly after forming the non-profit organization Chess For Kids with his daughter in 2007.  Since retirement he has been co-managing the program and instructing chess enrichment programs in elementary schools.
