RI Foundation Update

Our Thursday program will focus on the international, humanitarian efforts of Rotary International. Past District Governor Kevin Eisenberg of Calistoga is our featured speaker. Kevin is Rotary District 5130 Foundation Chair and he will talk about the significant impact of Rotary’s worldwide efforts.

While our Santa Rosa Sunrise Rotary Club focuses primarily on serving our community and region, our donations to The Rotary Foundation and PolioPlus expand our organization’s reach to the entire globe.

The program will include Rotary Global Grants that supported our club’s Surgery Center in Sabalos, Nicaragua, and the Santa Rosa East Club’s solar cooker project in Uganda.  John Jones will discuss our Sabalos efforts and Barry Cogbill of SR East will discuss the Africa project. Carolyn Anderson will discuss our District Grants – funds that come back to our district and clubs from RI, to support our club’s efforts – mostly to support Elsie Allen High School -- over the past seven years.

Kevin Eisenberg lives in Calistoga. His career included serving as principal of Calistoga Elementary and Calistoga Junior/Senior High School.  He was selected as the Educator of the Year in Napa County in 1999. He is now devoting all of his time to Rotary.

He has had every position in his Calistoga Rotary Club except secretary. For Zone 26/27, Kevin has served as Assistant Regional Rotary Foundation Coordinator and Planning Committee member for the Zone Institutes in Reno and Denver. At the District level Kevin has served as District Governor 2014-15, District Trainer, Assistant Governor, District Assembly Instructor, District Assembly Planning Committee, Foundation Dinner South Chair, District Conference Organizing Committee, District Conference Chair, District Foundation Future Vision Transition Team, Foundation Committee Member and Rotary Leadership Institute Instructor. 

Kevin and his wife Mary have also been host parents for many exchange students and have attended numerous Rotary International Conventions. Currently he serves as the District 5130 Rotary Foundation Committee Chair. and Club Foundation Chair for the RC of Calistoga. For fun he said he hikes, bikes, writes humorous plays and annoys his family.
