4. VACATION IN PRIVATE HOME & CABIN ON THE SPRING RIVER IN  CENTRAL OREGON 
 
Enjoy a relaxing 6 days, 5 nights at two adjacent properties located on the Spring River, (with fully equipped kitchens, washers and dryers etc.) a home and a cabin with private boat dock. Canoes, paddles and life vests are available for guests.  There is additional space that could accommodate children with sleeping bags, cots or air mattresses.
 
Located amid a year-round recreational area full of opportunities for fun, adventure, or a relaxing respite. Hiking, fishing, rafting, are nearby, as well as the Sunriver Resort, (approximately 15 miles south of Bend OR) with swimming, bicycle riding, golf, tennis, and the popular Mt. Bachelor Ski Area, known for terrific downhill and cross-country skiing in February and March.

5.  AN EVENING IN KAGOSHIMA
 
Enjoy an elegant evening and hospitality of a 7 Course Gourmet Japanese Dinner for eight guests. Experience the fresh and healthy food of Southern Japan, also known as Satsuma Cuisine, along with traditional foods of Japan. Included in the dinner entrées will be such foods as Miso Soup, Gyoza and Tempura Vegetables.  Guests will have Sushi Rolls with or without Sashimi to choose from. Fund A Need is a very special part of our annual auction that gives you the chance to rally around a particular need, and support it at a level that is right for you. 
This year’s Fund A Need beneficiary is the Redwood Empire Food Bank. 
Billy Bartz is a Development Officer at the Redwood Empire Food Bank (REFB) - Santa Rosa, CA. “The mission of the Redwood Empire Food Bank is to end hunger in our community. We are Sonoma County’s leader in hunger relief. We respond to the immediate needs of people seeking help through the provision of healthy food and nutrition education. We pursue long-term solutions to food insecurity through public policy and the development of partnerships with civic, faith-based, corporate and government organizations and, most importantly, individuals in our community.”
We all came to donate money to good causes. So get ready to raise your paddle at this time for this year’s worthy project!
 
11.  NICARAGUA – LAND OF LAKES AND VOLCANOES
 
Pelican Eyes Resort - Six days and five nights at Casa Santa Rosa, a first class 2,400 square foot freestanding villa at the Pelican Eyes Resort in San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua. The resort (and our villa) was home to the cast and crew of the “Survivor-Nicaragua” episode. The villa has two master bedrooms, one with a king size bed and the other with two queen beds, both with private baths, in a setting with views of the Pacific Ocean, the San Juan del Sur Bay and the valley leading to the seaside village. The living area upstairs also has a futon that can sleep two and full bathroom. The villa is within easy walking distance of the resort’s hillside restaurant and one of three infinity pools (about 100 yards away). The village of San Juan del Sur is just a 5-10 minute walk downhill to enjoy shopping, the bay, great restaurants and local charm. The package does not include transportation to/from Managua airport. Travel time is about 1 ½ - 2 hours. The resort does provide transportation at a cost of about $125 each way (not per person). We can arrange this for you with the resort when we make your reservations.
The Villa is available for rent so reservations are on a first come first serve basis. No blackout dates but popular holidays book quickly. Area is considered dry-tropical from November thru May, with rainy season starting in June and ending in late October. January can be windy. No Visas are required for travel to Nicaragua.
The Villa includes daily maid service. The package at the Villa does not include meals or airfare.
San Juan River Adventure - We are combining the five-night resort package at Pelican Eyes with a four-day three-night package down the San Juan River of Nicaragua staying at the Sabalos Eco-Lodge for two adults. While at the Lodge all meals are covered. Stay at a riverside “Swiss Family Robinson” open-air cabana. Wake up to the sound of birds and howler monkeys. Enjoy the history of nearby El Castillo (home to a fort built in the 1650’s to guard the river from marauding pirates), tour the local biosphere reserve, kayak during the day and go on a Cayman spotting tour at night.
All excursions, transportation to and from San Carlos (location of landing strip) are part of the package. You can comfortably manage these two packages back to back to make for a nine-day eight-night package that you will remember for a lifetime. As with most events at the Riel’s vineyard home, the dinner will be followed by a tasting of brandies from the host’s family owned distillery in Bavaria, accompanied by a selection of fine cigars.
