Highlights: Our February hike will be at Taylor Mountain Regional Park, an urban oasis within Santa Rosa. Two options are available: A moderate 1.5 hour hike on the lower portion of the mountain, and a difficult 3-hour hike to the mountain top. Both have sweeping views of the valley and distant mountain peaks.
Rating: Moderate to Difficult, with several steep stretches on the Difficult upper mountain portion. We will take it slow on the steep stretches.
Leader: Rick Lewis. For more information, contact Rick at 707-546-9856 or burforb@att.net .
Date & Time: Sunday, February 21 at 10:00 am.
Directions: The address of Taylor Mountain Regional Park for GPS purposes is 2080 Kawana Terrace, Santa Rosa, CA 95404. Consult Google Maps or GPS for directions.
Carpool: No carpool since the hike is within Santa Rosa city limits.
Description: Taylor Mountain Regional Park & Open Space Preserve is a prominent Santa Rosa landmark, providing panoramic views of the city and distant peaks. The park's 1,100 acres include sweeping grasslands, oak woodlands, several creeks, and habitat for a variety of wildlife. The park has 5.5 miles of unpaved trails. With the substantial rains this fall and winter, early wildflowers should be in bloom.
Bring: Water and walking sticks and a picnic lunch to enjoy at the top with the sweeping views. Dress in layers in case of cooler or rainy weather. Spouses, partners, friends and guests welcome. This is a good introduction to our Club for guests potentially interested in becoming members.
