Our wonderful guest speaker was Savanna Boiano, Exec. Dir. Sequoia Parks Conservatory.
The conserved land at Sequoia predates the National Park service. Its motto is "Wild at Heart Since 1890." It is the second oldest National Park after Yellowstone. The National Park Service was established to preserve natural and cultural resources.

The Sequoia Park Conservatory was formed in 1940 to fund and enable projects which provide access to Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks.

One-third of the trees in Sequoia are Sequoia Redwoods, the largest trees by volume in the world. It is the home of the General Sherman Tree, the largest in the world. The park is the gateway to a huge wilderness area, which according to Savanna is more spectacular than the back country of Yosemite. It is resplendent in mountains, meadows, waterways, and caves. Wildlife is abundant.

The Conservatory is committed to preserving the future. It facilitates many biological studies exploring endangered species and the effects of climate change.

Don't miss the spectacular photos that accompanied this fascinating overview of 2 of our treasured National Parks; Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks.
