Recently, SCC Sheriff Sgt. Jeremy Jones brought his K9 Partner Raider to our Club for a visit. We were impressed with the special bond between Sgt. Jones and Raider, as well as how Raider lovingly interacted with us as strangers. Sgt Jones told us about how his K9 partner assists him with his law enforcement duties, including sniffing for bombs and apprehending "bad guys". This is a great calling to service that we should all appreciate.

But then,  he told us about another side of his special relationship with his K9 Partner, and we were completely touched and inspired.

Sgt. Jones and Raider are frequently involved with visiting children in school and hospital visits. Sgt. Jones told us about the special bond that often opens between Raider and kids struggling with their feelings about illness and other challenges in their lives, that we normally would never know about. Often, the children will talk or write to Raider and express feeling and stories that have never been shared with the people around them. We began to understand how Sgt. Jones and Raider are part of a much bigger calling to service than meets the eye.
