Elizabeth Riech presented the mission of VisionQuest 20/20 to our club on September 5. VisionQuest 20/20 is a non-profit dedicated to establishing a nationa vision screening program for U.S. school children. Amblyopia (lazy eye) leads right to blindness in the effected eye if left untreated. A typical eye exam costs as much as $75. Dr. Jim O'Neil has developed a computer game which can test for potential vision problems for less than $5 per exam. When someone fails the game, they may be refered to an eye specialist for corrective treatment.
VisionQuest 20/20 focuses on delivering their program to schools. It is funded by grants, sponsorships, and other contribution from the public and private sectors.
