To promote their understanding of world issues, the Corona del Sol Interact Club participates in the local and national Model UN conference. At the conferences, the "delegates" represent the interests of a country other than their own on real issues considered by the UN. They have to study the geography, industry, culture, customs, and belief systems of their adopted country. They need to research their country's historical position on issues. At the convention, the delegates compete to draft resolutions that support their country's position and get them accepted by a majority of the delegates at the convention. The national convention in New York is attended by students from all over the world.
Tempe South Rotary supports this activity for the potential of world peace through understanding. On February 13, Eric McKay, VP of CdS Interact Club was present at our meeting to receive a check for $2250 to fund chaperones on their trip. Chris Sar and John Nieman presented Eric with the check.
